About Lesley B. Harris

Roots: Born and raised in New York.

Education: Ms. Harris graduated with honors from Columbia University, New York City, in 1980.  She completed mediation training in 1981 and worked for the Mediation Program of the Children’s Aid Society from 1980 – 1983.  She earned her J.D. from Hastings College of Law, University of California, San Francisco, in 1986.

Attorney Positions:  Ms. Harris became an associate with the law firm of Lillick, McHouse & Charles (now Nixon Peabody) in 1986, and was admitted to the partnership in 1998.  As a partner in a major San Francisco law firm she represented large corporate clients including Hyatt Hotels, Crystal Cruises, SNK Developers and Stonestown Galleria Mall.  During her 14 years with the law firm she handled all aspects of litigation including court and jury trial, arbitration and mediation.  She brings her vast expertise, experience and knowledge from working “on the inside” to her individual clients with claims against property owners, manufacturers, contractors, developers and insurance companies.

Ms. Harris moved with her family to Santa Cruz in 2000, where she opened her own practice in 2002.  Ms. Harris represents clients from the San Francisco Bay Area through the Monterey Bay Area.

In addition to her legal strengths, Ms. Harris possesses strong interpersonal skills.  She prides herself on listening to and working with clients to ensure that her client’s interests are paramount.  She respects her clients and keeps them well informed.  Ms.  Harris is a formidable negotiator and uses well-developed problem solving skills to obtain an optimal result for her clients in an expeditious manner.

Area of Practice:  Personal injury/wrongful death, business litigation, contracts, commercial litigation, disability access, and mediation.  Ms. Harris represents both plaintiffs (claimants) and defendants.

Interests:  Ms. Harris enjoys traveling (Africa, Southeast Asia, Europe, Mexico, US), hiking, softball, dancing, reading and at the moment, watching Giants baseball.

Family:  Ms. Harris lives in Santa Cruz with her daughter who is, alternatively, an aspiring actress, hairdresser, rock star and veterinarian, but for now, is a very good student, dancer, athlete and shopper.
